We are excited to announce the release of our new Results HQ format - CrossFire! Crossfire is a high intensity circuit using tyres, kettlebells, ropes, sleds and your body weight set to intervals to ignite your metabolic rate. Feel the burn!

BoxSquad is back !!  We are celebrating Yvette's return to small group training with us and introducing our new trainer Kayley. Together they will work with you to enhance your boxing skills, strength and endurance.

LIFESTYLE MEMBER
OF THE MONTH

Mike Perry

My Lifestyle Health and Fitness journey started back in 2013.  I was coming back from a couple of major football and squash injuries, and looking to regain fitness and find a new challenge.  A few friends had recommended Lifestyle Gym because of the relaxed family feel and the staff’s dedication to helping people find the right training and motivation that worked for them.  I started out doing a few Ride classes with Pete and Fats, as well as Muscle Express with Dawn – and my friends were right, the sessions were intense but they had a great feel to them, enjoyable with obvious camaraderie.  Very different to some of my other gym experiences.

 

After talking with some of the personal trainers at Lifestyle Gym (and a certain friend, you know who you are!), endurance and multi-sport events seemed like something that suited my exercise passions; and not long after that I set a goal of taking on the 50km Karapoti Classic mountain bike race in early 2014 as well as the Sovereign Standard Distance Triathlon in Wellington.  Happily, I managed to complete both without incident and I realised that triathlon was something that I wanted to do more of and get better at.

 

Over that last couple of years I have competed in 14 triathlons (including the Rotorua Half Ironman) culminating in a surprise selection for the New Zealand triathlon team competing at the Age Group World Championships in Cozumel, Mexico in September.  The classes and trainers at Lifestyle Gym have been a huge contributor to my improvement since I started competing in triathlon, providing an environment that is both supportive and encouraging, pushing you to keep improving, and to give 110% every time you come along.

 

The Ride classes are my personal favourite, whether it be the Pure or Tabata variety.  Pete and Fats make the classes ridiculously enjoyable considering they start at 6am in the morning!  They never have an off day, they are always mixing things up and creating variety, and if you’re lucky Pete might even sing along.  They fitness I have gained doing Ride has meant my cycling has become more consistent and explosive, particularly when the triathlon bike courses are as hilly as they are in Wellington!!

 

I can’t recommend Lifestyle Gym highly enough. Their point of difference to other gyms come down to the customer experience – warm, friendly, interested staff that make you feel part of a big family.
